I sort of liked the book, and I’m sort of shocked I did, and I’m mad at the book. 22 Jul Robards (Sleepwalker, , etc.) combines a few of her favorite themes in the first of a series featuring a psychiatrist with paranormal abilities.

I didn’t have a problem with Crane, but he didn’t really jump out at me either. Then after the beginning of the book mentioned this over and over, it seemed to disappear. Looking for More Great Reads?
The Last Victim
Charlotte Stone 4 books. As such, I am not sure that it was the best book for me to start with. While lazt FBI doesn’t care, nor should they, about how many personal nightmares this case awakens for Charlie, they make an absolute metric buttload of mistakes about her safety. Charlie sees what others do not.
The plot line, an increasingly frantic search for a kidnapped teen aged young woman by a serial killer, is tension-filled from the first page and it peaks in the final resolution at precisely the right moment. The whole having-the-hots-for-a-convicted-serial killer should have given me cartloads of pause, but the way it’s presented just didn’t. The romantic hero is a dead serial killer.

The two had great chemistry, which made Charlie’ I was a little torn with this one, especially considering Michael is supposedly a serial killer, and Charlie knows this.

For one, I like romantic suspense that is a bit more heavy on he suspense than the romance. For Charlie—whose good looks disguise a world of hurt, vulnerability, and potent psychic gifts—a frantic hunt for a madman soon becomes a complex test of cunning, passions, and secrets. I will admit that I liked the overall premise of the book.

I counted at least five; ghost-romance, “I see dead people”, serial killer stalks his last victim, new FBI team hunts high-profile serial killers, trauma victim uses angst to forge career.
But I can see why it would turn many other readers off.
It was all mystery and suspense in finding out what happened when Charlotte was younger. Charlotte Stone sees what others do not. I can appreciate that.

Fill in your details below or click an icon to log in: There was a past that I enjoyed about this novel but within the ,ast few pages when Dr Charlie Stone describes a serial killer, Michael Garland, sitting across from her during a clinical assessment, as ‘hot’ I was taken aback.
Objectively, with more editing down and less telling than showing this novel would have been even better.
I enjoyed the storyline, characters and found it quite good on the suspense scale. I am so very glad I did.

It is a non-stop page-turning paranormal romance filled with suspense. I think this is going to be an amazing series. I’m quite excited for it.

When they got to the point of having sex by astral projection, my eyes started rolling and wouldn’t stop. I can’t imagine that KR won’t exonerate Michael – please! I think The Last Victim would have been better if the author had resisted the impulse to grab quite so many packages from the troperville trolley. Romance is one of my least favorite genres. I have since read several books by Robards and on the whole have really liked them. North Tje United States. I wish it had been balanced.
